What Having a Food Processor Can Do
One of the main selling points of a food processor is it can replace a number of other kitchen gadgets. A good food processor, which is efficient and versatile, can become an indispensable gadget in everyone’s kitchen.
It can be used to prepare biscuit dough, grind spices, puree baby food and many more. Most food processors come with powerful blades, attachments which can chop food like knives and juice extractors. Suffice to say that a food processor is like a blender, chopper and juicer all combined into one valuable kitchen gadget.
How a Food Processor Works
The majority of the food processors or food mixers only have one motor speed. Most also come with a small tube opening located at the top which allows the user to add other ingredients easily without having to open the entire food processor. There is also a pusher which is used to push the food down and nearer the blades.
The pusher helps keeping your fingers safe from blades because they will never get in contact with the blades. One of the most popular things which a food mixer needs is a “pulse” button; however, not all processors have this. The “pulse” button gives you small bursts of power. This is appropriate for kneading quick dough or rough chopping.
What to Look for in a Good Food Processor
Before going to the store and paying for a food mixer or processor, it is important to find out what to look for so that you can get one which will give you what you need and more. Processors come in various sizes. There are food mixers which have small cups to professional models which can accommodate 20 cups.
Assess what your cooking needs are. Most home cooks prefer medium sized processors. This is adequate enough for a recipe for the whole family. Larger sizes are for professional use and may be too much for a family. Smaller processors may also not be enough.
Power is another thing which should be paid attention to. Large units need more power. This allows them to knead dough and even break up hard vegetables. For home use, processors with about 400 watts of power are enough.
The processor is designed to replace a lot of gadgets in the kitchen. Portability and storage are also top considerations to a lot of people. They do not want processors which are bulky and hard to store. Food processors which come with retractable cords have advantages over those which do not. Cleaning is also another issue. Processors which are easy to clean and dishwasher-safe are more appealing than those which are not.
Add-ons are a Big Help for Food Processors
Aside from the main component of the processors, there are also additional items which come with it. Although they are not the focus when people buy food mixers, they can be of very great help when you start using your gadget in the kitchen. An ideal mixer should come with blades, whisks and cutting disks, at the very least. The cutting tools of the food processor should fit securely and should also be well-constructed.
